It had shelves of old dusty books, some unread for generations. Their hidden knowledge just waiting to be rediscovered by the right reader. Time had passed here.

In a large windowed room with a grand piano there stood various mementos of trips taken when travel was an event and not a burden. When steamships were all the rage and Prohibition had made the feeble attempt to dry us out. On that delicate reminder of music filled parties that danced to the tickle of those ivory keys, where you and I might have sat with bathtub gin in one hand and a unfiltered cigarette in the other carefully placed reminders watched over the room. Pictures. Lots of them. In that sanctuary of memories, hidden among the many frozen moments of time long since past was a picture like this.

The Classic Vintage Portrait.
