Going way back to the early 1900s I created a series of images based on early turn of the century circus style images. Hand colored and full of vintage goodness.

I just shot a series inspired by vintage bare knuckle boxing. Something totally different and new. Going back to the early 1900s and how brutal sports could be i created these to be as period correct as i could. Enjoy!

Shooting Mosh is nothing short of awesome. She is the real thing. Model. Artist. Burlesque Performer. Creative mind. She remains one of my very favorite people to shoot, the experience of working with her is just a joy. I am looking forward to working with her again that’s for sure.

Daguerreotypes are amazing and unique images that have a special look and feel all there own. I have been fascinated with them for as long as I can remember. Dirty and rough textures..faded almost haunting looks…these images shot in the early life of photography are hard to replicate in the digital age. Doesn’t mean I wont try it tho…

Vintage French postcards are something i really like and I love to shoot. Tara of Gotham Public Works is the subject of this series. She’s amazing and I can’t wait to work with her again!

I once visited a very old house. It had shelves of old dusty books, some unread for generations. Their hidden knowledge just waiting to be rediscovered by the right reader. Time had passed here.

In a large windowed room with a grand piano there stood various mementos of trips taken when travel was an event and not a burden. When steamships were all the rage and Prohibition had made the feeble attempt to dry us out. On that delicate reminder of music filled parties that danced to the tickle of those ivory keys, where you and I might have sat with bathtub gin in one hand and a unfiltered cigarette in the other  carefully placed reminders watched over the room.  Pictures.  Lots of them. In that sanctuary of memories, hidden among the many frozen moments of time long since past was a picture like this.

The Classic Vintage Portrait.

The look and feel of the 1920s is really something special. Recently I shot a whole series in this style. Vintage and timeless was the goal.

A lot of people ask me how I set up and shoot like this. As I design a workshop for shooting in the George Hurrell style, I wonder, does the history of this style of portrait photography mean much to people? It’s a curious question when you think about it. Why do we love and adore this style? Why is it so rare?

A short series of minimal images I shot of London Andrews awhile back. Recently, I’ve become fascinated with the whole minimalist concept in photography. A great portrait can be as simple as you want it to be. They can also be very complex. In this case, less is more.
